“That was the true Light which gives light to every man who comes into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave power to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:9-14
A summary of Jesus’ life and ministry: “He came unto His own and His own did not receive Him.”
This theme was true in Bethlehem “No room in the Inn”. This theme was true in Nazareth when it was said, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country.” This theme was true in Jerusalem as He was rejected by the religious community. And this theme is true in America today as we continue to pull God out of our culture in every way we can.
Christ Himself is the gift of Christmas. When we fail to claim Him personally in our lives, we will fail to receive many good and important things from Him. Paul speaks of such a gift with these words: “Thanks be unto God for His indescribable gift.” 2 Corinthians 9:15
During this Christmas advent season, my prayer is for you and your family to experience His “indescribable gift” that brings all who receive Him a sense of HOPE based on the promise that He will come again. And a sense of PEACE that passes understanding. As well as a sense of JOY that is unspeakable and full of glory. And a sense of His LOVE that loves and expects nothing in return.
Merry Christmas
