Dear Ministry Friend,
I’m not sure who coined the above quote, but I can tell you that after 45 years of full time pastoral ministry, I know that statement to be true. I have seen God’s hand at work multiple times in my own life and the churches that I have been pastor.
In my retirement years of ministry, I have decided to pray for younger ministers instead of being critical of them. I know that in my earlier years of ministry, I would have appreciated a little more extended hands in prayer and a little less finger pointing in criticism. So that is my intention with this little prayer group. I want to pray for your ministry.
Some of you are in places of service where it seems God is blessing greatly … some of you are in tough places where it seems like more burdens than blessings. I have been in both places. I would like to pray for you and I will do that as a part of my regular prayer time. I can call your name in prayer for some things in general. I would so appreciate you replying to this email with specific requests.
God is at work in your ministry … you simply need to work in cooperation with His Holy Spirit. I want to challenge you to believe the prayer of that Paul prayed in Ephesians 3:20, “Now unto Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we can ask or think.”
God bless you today as you continue His work. I am praying for you and your family.
David Archer
